Buying a ready-to-hang canvas is a great way to decorate blank walls. However, this method is more expensive than rolled canvas prints. So if you are on a budget and want to print on canvas, you can stretch your print. This is not very complicated, and I will show you how to do it.
So, to stretch a canvas print on the frame, you will need:
- screen printing
- 0.75 inch wood stretcher bars
- staple gun and many staples
- canvas pliers (optional, available at arts and crafts stores)
- rubber hammer
- Square in T or square of carpintero
- smooth and clean surface to work on.
1. Connect the stretcher bars, make sure they are square. Use your T-square or carpenter's square and a rubber mallet if necessary.
2. Lay the canvas print side up on a flat surface. Place the stretcher in the center.
3. Wrap one end of the fabric around the hoop and secure with a staple in the center.
4. Do the same on the opposite side of the stretcher. Stretch the fabric well.
5. Repeat on each side, turning the stretcher and tarp over.
6. Add staples to each side of the original staples. Repeat this several times, stretching the fabric and moving it from the center to the corners on each side of the tension bars.
7. To fold the corners, first squeeze and pull the corner fabric and fold it firmly against the frame at a 45 degree angle. Then, while holding the first fold in one hand, pinch and fold the excess fabric so it lines up along the edge of the frame, and staple it together. Do the same with all four corners.
Your canvas should be wrinkle free and bounce back when you touch it with your fingers. You can see, it's not very difficult, it's not like a space flight. I hope that my guide and the photos are well detailed and that now you can remove the silkscreen yourself on the stretcher.

allscreen printingReStyleGraphicterthe print area will be larger than the stated size, approximately 1 inch on each side. Then the pattern should extend to the sides of the stretcher. This will allow you to hang your canvas without a frame and the wall art will look beautiful on the wall.

artist milo pro stretched canvas | 30×40 inches | 4 Pack | 3/4-inch studio profile
I have ordered a few dozen Milos since Arteza stopped making his and I have to say they are much better. A little more expensive and one less in the package, but worth it to me. I buy the Studio, not the Gallery, and they are quite taught and come with wedges if you need them. They also don't have the problem that Arteza has, in that you don't get the frame on the canvas as much as you paint or draw on them. Only one year worth of paint but worth the price for what you get and they replace them in the store quickly when they run out too. I'm not sure how a professional painter would rate them, but I'm happy at my beginner/smart level.

Arteza 16"x20" Stretched Canvas, Classic 6-Pack 100% Cotton Primed Art Supplies for Painting Acrylic Paint, Oil Paint, and Wet Art Media Artist Canvases
I liked the price and quantity for the size of these canvases, my paintings turned out well (I only painted two). Bob Ross applied plaster white to his primed canvases (making his canvases double primed), but I skipped this step because I don't have plaster white and applied an even coat of liquid white to the canvas before the paint job would work for me. But in the future I will invest in casts. —MariaMN—
Sargent Art 90-2004 36 × 36 inches 100% cotton stretched canvas
I love to paint in my free time because it is a great stress reliever and a way to decorate the house in a unique and individual way. These screens are great. They absorbed the ink well and did not leave any residue. I ended up using a ton of paint on them and they dried in 2 hours in the sun. I hung them in my kitchen with ease using the 3M velcro hanging tabs and they work perfectly with them. I couldn't be happier with the endless possibilities of these displays. —Feline friendly—

I finally opened the package to use it last night. Great quality and quantity for the total price. I will definitely buy again when I finish the 10 I bought. I used two for my acrylic pour and they turned out amazing. Zero complaints given! —ACartner—
Artist Paint on White Cotton Stretched Canvas PHOENIX - 8 × 10 inches / Pack of 10 - 5/8" Profile Triple Primed for Oil and Acrylic Paints
The canvas is tight as it should be and is primed. Most companies claim that their displays are ready, but they are not. Some companies do not stretch the canvas properly, causing it to loosen up for painting. Very satisfied with these. —Rebeca—

I bought these for my daughter's birthday party and they were absolutely perfect. I was worried that they would be too small, but they weren't. I was able to fit 6-8 of them with easels on a 6 foot table. The kids loved it, they wanted to paint half the night. Now we are thinking of painting together on family day, thank you very much!

My teenage daughter spends a lot of time making art. She likes to work with acrylic on canvas, but she was bored with everything having the same shape. 8" x 10" Stretched Canvas Value Pack of 10
I bought it because I was making canvases for Christmas gifts. Not sure what went wrong, but I ended up needing more screen and fast. These were a taste of life. They were a bit thinner than the originals I was working with, but they turned out to work just fine. They are perfect for crafts for beginners. They arrived very quickly, even during the Christmas season. I would buy them again for future projects.—San Miguel—
FIXSMITH Blank Stretched Canvas - 8x10", Bulk Pack of 12, Primed, 100% Cotton
I love these screens. The quality is excellent. The price is a little higher than what I usually spend, but it's worth it. I paint every day, so I go through a lot of canvases. My son has autism, so we paint together to work on his fine motor skills. He helps me paint the backgrounds hand by hand and then I paint the rest. —lynn—
artist milo stretched canvas | 16×20 inches | Price Pack of 6
I paint. I buy different types of canvas depending on the size, the materials I intend to use, and just to have certain things on hand, when I feel the need to throw paint away, I can. I found these canvases to be the perfect size for my practice of different technologies that I am currently learning using oil. I recommend them to those of us who want quality over quantity and will put them to good use.
